The 2020 Annual Gathering


Friday 17th July 2020

Tour of the historic sites of Clan Lamont, Clan Macewan and MacLauchlan
Start in Dunoon. Coach tour to Ardlamont House, Ascog Castle, the early Lamont Settlement and marked stones at Inveryne.

Lunch at Kilfinnan Hotel and a visit to the Lamont Vault with 7th Century gravestones, thence to Clan Mcewan Memorial cairn, Castle Lachlan,  historic Glendaruel and back to Dunoon.

Evening (open to the public) Toward village hall.
FISH Bar-B-Q and folk rock Ceilidh at Toward village Hall  

Saturday 18th July
11 am Burgh hall Dunoon Society AGM

12 md Pipe bands will lead the clans parade from Burgh Hall to Lamont memorial.

Laying of the wreath at the Lamont Memorial, Dunoon.


This event will be open to the public and large crowds are expected.
1. Toward Castle  re-enactment of the siege of 1646 in the castle courtyard.

2. Re-creation of a 17th Century village with arts and crafts and activities for children.

3. Archery and a display of highland martial craft.

4. Historic displays of the clans of Cowal and merchandising tents of clan memorabilia.

5. Highland dancing.

6. Wauling the Tweed.

7. Clan Lamont Pipe band from Holand.

8. Dunoon Pipe band.

9. Clanadonia: A funky modern pipe band.

10. Hog roast.

11.Tug of war.

Castle Toward Saturday evening

Formal dinner and ceilidh for clan members, families and invited friends.

Sunday 19th July   For  Lamont’s only:
1. 10am   Service of dedication Toward Church followed by a visit to Inverchaolain church yard to lay a wreath at the war memorial.

2. A local historian will describe the history of the church and the connections of the families those interred.

3. Mary Lamb will tell the story of the sale of Toward church.

The remainder of the afternoon will be spent at Inverchaolain Manse, which is the headquarters of Clan Lamont Society.  In addition to the Lamont archives, visitors will be able to view presentations of the Clan Lamont history.

For the energetic visitors there will be a walk up Inverchaolain Glen and picnic
Sandwiches, tea, cakes  will be offered at the manse.

A short sail across Loch Striven from the manse to view the various fish eaten on Friday’s fish night.

4 pm farewells.

Accommodation will be available in castle Toward mansion house a fantastic new venue to book contact 

Transport available all weekend.
