This year is an extra special year In July 2022 Dunoon will see an influx of visitors during the 3 days Clan Lamont Gathering.

Three-day event programme

Friday 29th July                                                                                                                                              

10am registration in foyer of QUEENS HALL Dunoon                                                                

10.30 Clan Lamont tour to Kilfinan and the Lamont vault, lunch in village hall.   Onwards to Inveryne where Lamont’s first landed in Scotland, then to Ascog castle ruins for Picnic.  Then to Clan Maclachlan’s strongholds Tour and walk to the Clan McEwan cairn  for the McEwans          

6pm annual general meeting for clan Lamont – QUEENS HALL Dunoon                         

Evening 8pm-12am  Concert  CLANADONIA a world class band backed by Turas an all girls young band playing,  for the young clans folk and young folk of Dunoon  and district.   All welcome – QUEENS HALL Dunoon                   


Saturday 30th July                                                                                                                           

10am   All clans to meet at Burgh hall for parade to Lamont memorial for a short wreath laying ceremony then onwards to the Castle gardens for 12pm opening ceremony and the Official Launch of the digitised Lamont history at the Castle Museum: old letters: photographs: notes and letters to Hector McKechnie from Scottish diaspora,  letters to Sir Norman Lamont.

10am-4pm    Argyll gardens                                                                                                                       

12 .30pm  Theatrical play about the clan system at Dunoon castle by the walking theatre company. 

 Clan Village>    Whisky tasting       > interclan tug-o-war        > highland dancing                                                             craft stalls>   archery>  fencing>      pipe bands>    Story telling tent                                                                                   Waulking the tweed >  Gaelic speaking tent> Bar-B-Q  children’s activities

Saturday 7pm – 12am  Queens hall                                                                                                                                      Formal clans Dinner followed by a grand ceilidh ball and Scottish entertainment for clan members and invited guests.                                                                                                                                             

DRESSCODE                                                                                                                                                                            Gentlemen evening suit or highland dress.

Sunday 31st July 10.30am

Short church service and Kirking of the tartan in Kilmun church followed by a light lunch of soup and sandwiches.  

12pm  Tour of historic Kilmun see the Campbell mausoleum and hear the stories of Clan Campbell   and Clan Lamont.                                                                         

 3pm  trip to Toward castle then onwards  Lamont headquarters for  farewells and cocktails
